IHMS Holds ALM Contest

On October 9, 2024, the college and propaedeutic departments of Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary (IHMS) conducted their annual Academics, Literary, and Musical Contest (ALM) at the IHMS auditorium. Present were the college students, formators, and guests during the competition. The ALM contest was divided into three main parts: Academics in the morning, Literary in the afternoon, and Musical in the evening. The department was divided into four teams: Academia, Milesians, Lyceum, and Stoics. During the first part of the contest, the first-year college seminarians led the invocation that marked the formal opening of the event, and was followed by the singing of hymns led by Sem. Raymond Mark Halasan. An opening remark by Rev. Fr. Jose Zeno Vincent O. Gucor, academic dean, followed. The contests commenced afterwards. Throughout the day, enthusiasm and camaraderie radiated within the auditorium. In the evening, after all the competitions were done, the winners of the different teams were awarded. The following were the winners of the academic competitions: Stoics for General Information; Milesians for Religious Education; Academia for Math; Lyceum for Latin, Spelling, and Philosophy; and Milesians for Essay Writing. For the literary contest, the winners were the following: Academia for Poster Making; Stoics for English Declamation; Academia for Tula and Extemporaneous Speech; and Stoics for Balak. For the Musical contest, the winners were the following: Lyceum for Guitar Plucking; Milesians for Vocal Solo; Stoics for Vocal Duet; and Milesians for Modern Dance. The overall champion of the ALM 2024 was Team Lyceum, spearheaded by Sem. Kemp A. Curit. After the awarding ceremony, Rev. Fr. Rommel H. Anico gave his closing remarks. The IHMS hymn was then sung.
