Bohol Priests Attend IHMS Clergy Day

On August 20, 2024, the priests of the Tagbilaran and Talibon dioceses attended the Clergy Day at Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary. Registration started at 7AM and Holy Mass was at 10:30 AM. The presider of the Mass was Rev. Fr. Roderick Pizarras with his fellow jubilarians as concelebrants; namely, Rev. Fr. Juan Martin Legitimas, Rev. Fr. Anecito Polinar, Rev. Fr. Diosdado Ranara, Rev. Fr. Jocelito Eronico, Rev. Fr. Bonifacio Espeleta Jr., and Rev. Fr. Joven Lustre. Attending the Mass were Bishop Alberto Uy, the pilgrims, and the IHMS faculty and staff. The clergy had their lunch at the auditorium, and at 1:20 PM, the clergy had a parade from the auditorium to the Buon Pastore Community Center where the program took place. Four first-year seminarians sang the invocation, and Rev. Fr. Absalon Florenosos, the IHMS rector, gave a welcoming speech. A dance number of the IHMS dancers was presented. The muses of the dioceses of Tagbilaran and Talibon introduced themselves after the presentations. At 2:00 pm, the clergy played sports games such as volleyball, basketball, lawn tennis, table tennis, darts, billiards, card games, and badminton to culminate the Paring Bol-anon Sportsfest (PBS) held last August 6 and August 13, 2024. The evening program started at 6:00 PM with a dinner. Hosted by Rev. Fr. Jofel Naraga and Sem. Silvester Ferdie Lansang, the program included a variety of performances. Ms. Ma. Jane Deliso sang a song accompanied by Rev. Fr. Bernadine Jade Dionne Balite. His Excellency Most Rev. Patrick Daniel Y. Parcon, D.D. delivered an inspirational message. The Schola Cantorum delivered a choral performance, and the IHMS dancers presented a dance number. Right after the presentations, the following winners of the different sports were awarded: Talibon Clergy for basketball, both in junior and senior divisions; Talibon Clergy for volleyball; Rev. Fr. Jose Zeno Vincent Gucor (Talibon) for table tennis and also for darts singles; Sem. Giovanni Bautista and Rev. Fr. Jose Anthony Garcia (Talibon) for darts doubles; Rev. Fr. Jestoni Llanera and Rev. Fr. Rommel Anico (Tagbilaran) for billiards; Rev. Fr. Raindy Alpuerto and Rev. Fr. Johnson Inte (Tagbilaran) for badminton doubles. Rev. Fr. Ruel Pangan, Rev. Fr. Aurelio Luzon Jr., Rev. Fr. Romeo Barcelona, and Rev. Fr. Heraldin Laniba were also awarded as the lawn tennis finalists. The raffle draws then began. After the raffle, Rev. Msgr. Efren Bongay gave an inspirational message. The Legite also presented a same-day edit video of the event. The evening culminated with a hosting turn over for next year’s PBS of both dioceses. The Xanu Angels band performed for the socials and entertainment for the rest of the night.
